Because it’s fun to be meta (and have a semblance of organization)

In true debater fashion, I’m going to establish some (non)definitions. Because I can. Because I’m enjoying the freedom that is this blog. Because I like categorizing stuff in an attempt to make sense of all my messes.

The overarching category and thus the default one. The rest of the categories are also basically thoughts of course, but for the purpose of organization, “thoughts” in this case simply refers to the random posts that don’t belong anywhere else. Usually ruminations about life and things like society, parenthood, music, elephants, mental health, faith, manga, literature, etc.

Of these, there will be many. I’m an extremely sentimental person and keep hold of random paper scraps, old notebooks, meaningful candy wrappers, pieces of things I broke, etc. Memories are important to me.

Mostly free verse, though I want to practice writing more structured poetry. May feature dragons. And forks. Throwback poems may also be a thing — there are a lot I wrote before that I never published online. If I could communicate in limerick for the rest of my life, I wouldn’t. A day or two, maybe, or a week at most.

Short fiction. Mostly flash. Maybe. There will be dragons, both the literal and the metaphorical. Also forks. Creative non-fiction stories as well.

Tied to memories. I dream a lot and I dream vividly and I usually remember my dreams. As this blog is a dump of thoughts, I guess I’ll be sharing them too. Also I frequently have five-second dreams. I don’t know if this is a normal thing because I tried to google “5 second dreams” and there was nothing about them on the first three pages. More on that later?

I owe so much of who I am now to many of the people I’ve encountered in my life. I want to write letters to them that will easily be discovered when I die — and come on, death shouldn’t be a taboo topic, everyone does it. Anyway. I probably won’t be able to write to everybody, but I’ll try my best.

For now these are all the categories I foresee having. I may add more in the future, but I doubt it.
